The Artists
The House Party Tour features the House Party movies’ co-stars Kid ‘N Play and Full Force, as well as the reunion of Dru Hill; with Sisqo, Nokio, Jazz, and Tao. The tour will also feature Whodini, Montell Jordan, Monie Love, along with special guest appearances by Doug E. Fresh, MC Lyte, Biz Markie, and others (some artists subject to change). Kid N Play
Kid – born Christopher Reid and Play – born Christopher Martin, starred in the first three editions of the House Party movies.
Apart from the House Party movies, the duo also featured together in Class Act, which is a comedy in the same vein as the House Party movies.
Kid ‘n Play also recorded three albums together between 1987 and 1993, namely 2 Hype (1987), Kid ‘n Play’s Funhouse (1990), and Face the Nation (1991). Among the group’s most successful singles were 1989′s “Rollin’ with Kid ‘n Play,” which was number one on the Billboard R&B singles chart), 1990s “Funhouse, ” another number one on the Billboard rap singles chart, and “Ain’t Gonna Hurt Nobody,” yet another number one rap hit.
Kid ‘n Play is most notable for the group’s positive, mainstreamed, message-oriented music that is suitable for mass audiences.
Dru Hill
Dru Hill, with the powerful quartet of Sisqo, Nokio, Jazz, & Tao.
Founded in Baltimore, Maryland, and active since 1992, and have recorded several Top 40 hits, such as the R&B #1 hits “In My Bed”, “Never Make a Promise”, and “How Deep Is Your Love”. With their dynamic stage show, Dru Hill add their own nifty choreography to selected tunes in ‘live’ performance, and have been continuously wowing audiences over the years. Dru Hill’s big break came in 1996, when the self-titled album Dru Hill was released on November 19, 1996, and became a gold-selling album. Their album Enter the Dru eventually sold two million copies by 1999, and in 2000 they recorded the album Dru World Order, which was released in 2002.
Dru Hill have reunited to release their forth CD, entitled InDRUpendence Day on July 27, 2010. This album features the hit single “Love MD”. Dru Hill have their own television show called “Keith Sweat’s Platinum House” which airs June 28, 2010 on Centric. The show will focus on their fourth album, InDRUpendence Day, which will also be performed along with other hits such as Sisqo’s “Thong Song.”
Full Force
The six-man collective – featuring Paul Anthony, Bowlegged Lou, B-Fine, Baby Gerry, Shy Shy, and Curt-t-t – originated in Brooklyn, New York.
Full Force rose to fame in the mid-80’s as artists and producers, while recording the dance hit “I Wonder if I Take You Home” with Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam. The song topped Billboard’s dance chart, and went on to peak at number six on the R&B chart by summer of 1985.
Full Force released R&B hits on their own such as “Temporary Love Thing”, “Unfaithful So Much”, “All in My Mind”, and their biggest success continued as a production team for Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, with hits such as “All Cried Out”, “Head to Toe”, and “Lost in Emotion” (promoted by CBS Records Dance Music Department’s Gail Bruesewitz and Stuart Shiloh Hinds).
Full Force also appeared in the acclaimed House Party movie sequels, being popularly known as “the bullies”.
Montell Jordan
Montell Jordan is an American R&B singer-songwriter and record producer.
Jordan produced the number one smash hit party anthem “This Is How We Do It”, which sold over one-million copies. “More to Tell” followed in 1996, and in the spring of 1998, Jordan released his third album, “Let’s Ride,” followed by “Get It On Tonite” a year later. “Montell Jordan, Life after Def” followed, and he released the “Let It Rain” in 2008.
Monie Love
Monie Love is the host of the House Party Tour.
Born in London as Simone Wilson, aka Monie Love was featured on Queen Latifah’s single “Ladies First” while still a teen.
Love’s debut album, Down To Earth, spawned two Grammy-nominated hits, “Monie in the Middle” and “It’s a Shame (My Sister)”, which featured house-music vocalist and Ultra Naté. Monie Love is also known as a DJ and a radio personality.
Monie Love currently has a radio show on XM Satellite Radio called “Ladies First Radio with Monie Love”.
Whodini
Whodini, who rose to fame in the early ’80′s New York rap scene, was one of the first rap groups to add a straight R&B twist to their music.
The group consisted of rappers Jalil Hutchins and John “Ecstasy” Fletcher, along with the legendary DJ Drew “Grandmaster Dee” Carter. Whodini is best known for their multi-platinum album Escape. It featured the smash hits “Friends”, “Freaks Come out at Night” and “Big Mouth”.
Mc Lyte
MC Lyte is regarded as one of the first female rappers to point out the sexism that is often prominent in hip-hop, and inspire artists like Queen Latifah and Missy Elliott.
She is widely known for her hit single “Cha Cha Cha” that peaked at number one on the rap charts and the anti-violence track “Cappucino.”
“Ruffneck,” earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Single and it later became the first gold single ever achieved by a female rap artist. MC Lyte has also appeared on several TV shows, including comedies such as “Moesha” and “In the House”, and the crime drama “New York Undercover.”
